The National Elections Commission (NEC) has officially confirmed that the Proposed People’s Action Party (PAP) has met the preliminary requirements for registration as a political party in Liberia.
In a formal communication addressed to PAP Organizing Committee Chairperson Mr. Ahmed K. Sirleaf, the NEC authorized the Party to proceed to its first National Convention within six months of receipt of the letter. The convention will provide a platform for the Party to adopt its constitution and by-laws and to elect its leadership, in accordance with Section 7.1 of the NEC Regulations and Article 79 of the 1986 Constitution.
The NEC further indicated that upon the successful completion of this convention, PAP will be issued its official certificate of registration, formally recognizing it as a registered political party in Liberia.
The First National Convention is scheduled to take place from March 26–28, 2026, in Bentol City, Montserrado County. The public will be updated throughout the planning process via the Party’s official website, PAP’s Facebook page, and other media outlets.
